We can’t wait to see you at our Pleasant Forever Anniversary Prom. After ten years of operation, we are celebrating Forever A Pleasant Dog with a prom with dancing, fun dog sport try-its, portraits by Amy Carroll Photography, creative grooming, and of course a dance floor for you and your dog. Dress for the occasion. Prom attire for humans is required. Refreshments will be served. Adults and kids 13 and up only please. This event is open house style.

  1. All dogs must be vaccinated and have clean fecals, but we are working on the honor policy for the first time in Pleasant Dog history. Don’t heck it up please. We will pull this car over and tell your father.

  2. One dog per handler please.

  3. Don’t let your dogs greet on leash.

  4. Prom is a lot for neurodivergent dogs. Please leave your reactive dogs at home. We’ll have special take home party favors for them. If you think your dog might not have a good time, please leave them at home.

  5. Hoomans Age 13 and up only please.

  6. Please respect body autonomy. Ask before petting someone else’s dog.

  7. Please be kind and Pleasant.

  8. Please keep noise to a minimum. Our neighbors thank you in advance.

  9. Please clean up after your dog. The Humble Hound will be joining us for the evening, but please keep your dog’s business to our property.

  10. There may be peanut products on hand. Please plan accordingly.

  11. We reserve the right to ask you to mosey on home if you can’t follow the rules or if your dog is not loving prom. If the latter, you can always come back later.

Our parking lot is small, but you can also park at the farmhouse across the street. follow the signs!

Our Prom is both a celebration of our ten years of A Pleasant Dog and a fundraising effort to support our ongoing research to improve the lives of animals and their people. Your donation will be used to support our research and/or our scholarship program, which provides free and reduced-cost training to underserved populations.

Our gym will be transformed into a resplendent discotheque where you can dance your best dance with your dog, featuring hits from all eras, from 50's sockhop to 80's rock to Taylor Allison Swift!

Amy Carroll will be on hand to take your prom photo with your dog.

Freestyle is a sport where you do fun heelwork to music and dance with your dogs. Our very own Gin Brophy will be teaching different dances including:

  • 7:00-7:20 Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel square dance

  • 7:45-8:10 Taylor Swift Karma

  • 8:45-9:00 Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel square dance

Nosework is a fun sport in which dogs learn to find certain essential oils using their noses. We will have a fun prom style nosework searches.

We will have searches for experienced dogs as well as novices.

Our Fear Free groomer, Alexa, will be offering creative grooming stencils and colorful grooming accents with temporary(ish) dye by OPawz while you treat your best friend through the experience. Note: if you are currently competing in AKC sporting events with your dog, you may wish to skip this part.

Some common questions!

- We will be using a Non-Toxic and Washable Pet Hair Dye by Opawz
- The color will show up best on light colored pet hair
- the color come out with soap and water
- In order to dye your pet they will need to be blow dried (Hair Dryer will be used to help dry) so if this will make them uncomfortable best to skip this!
- The color will Last up to Two weeks or until they are bathed or otherwise get wet (rain, snow etc)
